“AI UNTUK RAKYAT” PROGRAMME SET TO EMPOWER 100,000 YOUTHS WITH FREE ACCESS TO AI TECHNOLOGY

PUTRAJAYA, August 30, 2026 – The "AI untuk Rakyat" programme will roll out in phases starting 31 August 2026 through the new Rakyat Digital portal, targeting 100,000 Malaysian youths aged 18 to 30 through 2027.

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced the "AI untuk Rakyat" programme as one of six key people centric initiatives aimed at expanding digital opportunities for Malaysian youth, speaking in conjunction with the 2026 National Day Address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

Rakyat Digital serves as the national digital learning portal, an initiative under the Ministry of Digital led by MyDIGITAL Corporation. This effort forms part of the MADANI Government’s commitment to expanding access to artificial intelligence (AI) technology, while equipping youths with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to utilize AI responsibly.

Ministry of Digital Secretary-General YBhg. Datuk Fabian Bigar highlighted that the "AI untuk Rakyat" programme is a pivotal step toward ensuring young people not only understand AI technology, but also gain access to practical AI tools to boost learning, creativity, and productivity. He noted that the initiative seeks to ensure the benefits of AI are distributed widely and inclusively, in line with the Government’s vision to build a digitally literate and future-ready society.

The "AI untuk Rakyat" programme is available free of charge to Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 30 through the Rakyat Digital portal, subject to the successful completion of prescribed modules. The curriculum comprises six key modules:

1. AI Nation 2030: The MADANI Approach;

2. CYBERSAFE for the People;

3. Generative AI;

4. AI Safety;

5. Agentic AI for All; and

6. Cloud for the People.

Participants who complete and pass all required modules will be granted a free three-month subscription to a suite of selected AI applications and software. To kick off the initiative, eligible participants will receive exclusive access to AI tools from leading local and international technology providers, including:

1. YTL AI Labs – IlmuChat;

2. Alibaba – Wonderclip and MuleRun; and

3. Google – Gemini Enterprise.

To further enrich the learning experience, additional AI software and tools from other technology providers will be introduced in phases. This initiative offers youth hands on exposure to cutting edge tools, empowering them to enhance their creativity, productivity, and digital skill sets.

This initiative reflects the Government’s commitment to democratizing the benefits of AI technology for all citizens, especially the youth, aligning with Malaysia’s vision to develop an inclusive AI Nation by 2030 as outlined in the MD2030 strategy.
