ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE INAUGURAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
AI MALAYSIA BERHAD
I am pleased to announce the appointment of the inaugural Board of Directors of AI Malaysia Berhad, marking another important milestone in strengthening the institutional foundation for Malaysia’s national artificial intelligence agenda.
This appointment follows the launch of AI Malaysia Berhad by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 28 July 2026. As the Ministry of Digital’s lead agency, AI Malaysia coordinates the national AI agenda, promotes safe and responsible AI adoption, and drives the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030 to achieve AI Nation 2030.
The inaugural Board brings together leaders from the public and private sectors, with experience spanning national transformation and public policy, digital economy development, investment and AI innovation, bringing complementary perspectives from government and industry.
The establishment of AI Malaysia provides the nation with a dedicated institution to lead and coordinate its AI agenda. The appointment of the Board brings strategic leadership, sound governance and diverse public- and private-sector perspectives to this mandate. The inaugural Board of Directors of AI Malaysia Berhad comprises:
1. Chairperson: Aireen Omar
Currently serves as a Board Member of Tune Protect Group Berhad and an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. A seasoned corporate leader and venture builder with over 20 years of experience in business transformation, technology and regional growth. Her current work focuses on supporting high-growth technology ventures and founders, drawing on expertise in venture scaling, AI and digital transformation, capital strategy, corporate governance and market expansion across ASEAN.
2. Director: Datuk Fabian Bigar
Currently serves as Secretary-General, Ministry of Digital Malaysia. Extensive senior public-sector leadership experience spanning national transformation, economic development, digital strategy, public policy and strategic delivery.
3. Director: Ma Sivanesan a/l Marimuthu
Currently serves as Deputy Secretary-General (Digital Development), Ministry of Digital Malaysia. Nearly three decades of public-sector leadership experience spanning economic and fiscal policy, digital transformation and public finance.
4. Director: Muhammad Afhzal bin Abdul Rahman
Currently serves as the Chief Digital Technology Officer at Employees Provident Fund (EPF). Over two decades of leadership experience in technology, enterprise architecture and digital transformation across major Malaysian and global organisations.
5. Director: Foo Yen Ling Adelene
Currently serves as Chairperson of Trendcell Sdn. Bhd. and Director of MyTeksi Sdn. Bhd. Extensive leadership experience spanning strategy, business transformation, technology-driven innovation and entrepreneurship.
Further appointments will be made in due course.
The appointment of the Board of Directors further strengthens AI Malaysia’s institutional capacity and governance as it advances its national mandate, moving Malaysia’s AI agenda from strategy to coordinated implementation and impact, anchored in accountability and the nation’s long-term interests.
