PRESS RELEASE
NAIO INVITES PUBLIC INPUT FOR NATIONAL AI ACTION PLAN
Have Your Say on Malaysia’s AI Future
KUALA LUMPUR, 1 JULY 2025 – The National AI Office (NAIO) under the Ministry of Digital has launched a nationwide public consultation as an initial step in developing the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030 — Malaysia’s strategic roadmap for the responsible, inclusive, and high-impact development and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to advance national progress and well-being.
This initial engagement features a short and accessible questionnaire designed to gather public sentiment on Malaysia’s readiness for AI, key areas of concern such as job displacement and data privacy, and aspirations for how AI can be used to address national challenges. Participants are also encouraged to share bold or imaginative ideas on how AI can improve everyday life, from public services and safety to sustainability and education.
NAIO is committed to ensuring that Malaysia’s AI development is planned in an inclusive and forward-looking manner. Public feedback will form a critical foundation for policies and initiatives that address real societal needs and drive the nation’s progress.
As the central coordinating unit for AI, NAIO is mandated to institutionalise AI across sectors, with a clear aspiration: to build a robust, inclusive, and trusted AI ecosystem that delivers real, measurable impact for the nation. The National AI Action Plan will chart a whole-of-nation approach, ensuring alignment between government, industry, academia, and the public.
Public feedback is important to ensure that Malaysia’s AI development is inclusive and effective. NAIO welcomes participation in the questionnaire which is now available on NAIO’s official website, ai.gov.my and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook).
